OVERVIEW OF 7TH GRADE HEALTH EDUCATION

2012-2013

Welcome to 7th grade health education!  For the next 9 weeks you will be learning about all aspects of your health.  You will learn about what you can do to prevent health problems, how to handle problems when they occur, and how to improve your health.  This course not only provides information, but it encourages you to develop personal and social skills, and positive attitudes about health.  The overall goal of this course is that by the end of 9 weeks you will have increased your knowledge of health and you will know what you can do to prevent health problems and make healthy choices.

WHAT CAN I DO TO BE A SUCCESSFUL STUDENT IN CLASS?

  1. BE ON TIME!  When you enter the room, get your materials needed for the day and begin working on the day’s Warm Up.  You only have 4 (four) minutes between classes and it is your responsibility to get to class on time with all of your supplies.  If you are tardy 3 times unexcused, you will be assigned an after-school detention.

  1. COME TO CLASS PREPARED!  You are expected to have a section/folder designated for health.  All handouts, notes, and homework should be kept neatly in this section/folder.  A reading book of your choice should also be brought with you to class.  You are expected to have a pencil, pen (please no red pen), and loose leaf paper.

  1. SHOW AND ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO DISPLAY RESPECTFUL BEHAVIOR AT ALL TIMES!  Everyone in this classroom has the right to learn.  Therefore no disruptions will be allowed.  Both students and teacher are to show respect for each other.  You are to respect your classmates and be tolerant of ideas that are different from your own.  You should be honest and take responsibility for your own actions.  You should NEVER CALL OUT and you are expected to follow ALL classroom procedures.  Cursing, teasing, or play fighting will NOT be tolerated.
  2. THE ROOM AND ALL OF ITS CONTENTS SHOULD BE KEPT NEAT AND CLEAN!  NEVER write on a desk, chair, book, shelf, or other furniture.
